What's In and What's Out: Recycling
Description
In partnership with the Town of Manchester’s Recycling and Community Service Coordinator, come find out which items should be placed into your recycling bin (What’s IN) and which items belong elsewhere (What’s OUT)! Guest Speaker Sherill Baldwin from the CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) will provide an overview of recycling programs in CT, current markets for our materials, and how to recycle right. Her presentation will allow for time to answer questions about recycling and trash. No registration required for this free program for adults.
Sherill Baldwin has worked in sustainable materials management for over 30 years and at DEEP since 2008. Current projects include the Increase Reuse and Recycling Working Group for the CT Coalition for Sustainable Materials Management, RecycleCT Foundation, What’s IN, What’s OUT initiative, and overseeing the CT Business Recycling assistance project. She facilitated the creation of a universal list of acceptable recyclables for Connecticut in partnership with Materials Recovery Facilities and provides professional development for municipal recycling coordinators. She is also a founder of EcoWorks, a creative reuse center for the arts in North Haven. She received an M.S. in Resource Development at Michigan State University and a B.A. in Solid Waste Management from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.
